Join us for the introductory meeting of the Adult Graphic Novel Club. This month we'll be discussing Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. Print copies are available at the Circulation Desk.

Joshua Halsband teaches English composition, literature, and ESL for a variety of colleges from Boston to New Rochelle in-person, online, and hybrid.  He has been teaching since 1987 in the US, Spain, the former Soviet Union, and for 12 years in Japan.  An avid reader and writer, he recently became enthusiastic about graphic novels based on books, original graphic novels, manga, manhwa, comics, and anime. He says that his sudden interest in this medium came about because he was teaching ESL to teens and adults, and literature to native English speakers, who are not comfortable reading, and he had to devise a way to get them to become readers.  What started out as a classroom tool has become one of his newest passions.   Joshua hopes that readers of all levels of interaction with this media will join our new group.  From never-before readers to readers with years of insights into graphic novels, Joshua welcomes everyone.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this event is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Registration is not required. This program is run by library staff.
