Southbury Public Library is closed until further notice.

Thank you for your continued support and patience during this difficult time as we recover from extreme damage caused by the flooding on August 18th & 19th. Information on the library’s reopening will be provided when it is available.

The library’s book drop is closed. For now, hold all returns or return them to any other Connecticut library. Please do not leave returns in front of the library. All Southbury fines will be waived.

If you need assistance with anything related to your library card account, please call 203-262-0626 or email asksbylib@biblio.org.

Genealogy

Janet Mann Genealogy Corner

Located on the main floor of the library near the public computers, the Janet Mann Genealogy Corner is paid for by the Janet Mann Genealogy Fund. It houses the library’s technologically-advanced microfilm scanner, which provided users with options to enlarge words and images, copy and paste text, search for keywords, and more. Users can also use the scanner to save and print  copies of articles and photos found on microfilm. New bookshelves stocked with genealogy reference materials also occupy the Janet Mann Genealogy Corner.

Ancestry.com

Any of the library’s public computers can be used to search Ancestry.com for free. If you are using one of the library’s computers, please click on this link: Ancestry.com

FamilySearch Affiliate Library Program

The Southbury Public Library is a FamilySearch Affiliate Library.

FamilySearch is a nonprofit, online genealogy resource. After creating a free, personal account with them on FamilySearch.org, begin searching through digital records to find archived newspaper articles, church records, and other documents – some of which are hundreds of years old.
