Southbury Public Library is closed until further notice.

Thank you for your continued support and patience during this difficult time as we recover from extreme damage caused by the flooding on August 18th & 19th. Information on the library’s reopening will be provided when it is available.

The library’s book drop is closed. For now, hold all returns or return them to any other Connecticut library. Please do not leave returns in front of the library. All Southbury fines will be waived.

If you need assistance with anything related to your library card account, please call 203-262-0626 or email asksbylib@biblio.org.

NO LONGER AVAILABLE Solar Eclipse Glasses at the Southbury Public Library!

Update: we are unfortunately out of Solar Eclipse Glasses.

Original post:

Pick up eclipse glasses from the Second Floor Circulation Desk anytime during library open hours. For all ages and available while supplies last!

Rules:

  • Glasses are first come, first served.
  • There is no age limit on who can take glasses.
  • For personal use only.
    • We ask that people only take as many as they need for themselves and any family or friends they are picking up glasses on behalf of.
    • There is a maximum of 10 glasses per person, but please do not take more than you need.

Safe viewing of Monday, April 8th’s Eclipse is especially important in areas like Connecticut where we will only have a partial eclipse. Find out more about this upcoming eclipse, eclipse viewing safety, and the science of eclipses from NASA on their website here.

Our Solar Eclipse Glasses come from the SEAL (Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries) Initiative of the STAR Library Network, a learning network for libraries to develop STEM related programming. The SEAL project is funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
