Southbury Public Library is closed until further notice.

Thank you for your continued support and patience during this difficult time as we recover from extreme damage caused by the flooding on August 18th & 19th. Information on the library’s reopening will be provided when it is available.

The library’s book drop is closed. For now, hold all returns or return them to any other Connecticut library. Please do not leave returns in front of the library. All Southbury fines will be waived.

Our Nearest Library Neighbors

While we are closed (or any other time!), you can visit one of our awesome library neighbors! You can visit ANY library in the state of Connecticut and check out items there with your hometown library card. Here is a full excel list of all the libraries in Connecticut, or see below for some of our closest neighbors:

*Bibliomation System: The Bibliomation System is a group of 68 public libraries (plus some special libraries and school systems) that share the Evergreen catalog system, among other technology. How does this impact your library card and borrowing materials?

  • If you have a Southbury Public Library card then you are already added to the system of other Bibliomation Libraries and don't have to get your library card re-added; it would be just like checking out at the Southbury Public Library. You can also have your card looked up with your license or other ID if you don't have it on you because you are already in their system.
    • Non-Bibliomation libraries are also very happy to add you to their library system! It usually takes less than 5 minutes.
  • If you are at another Bibliomation library, you can see what you have checked out at other Bibliomation libraries.
  • If you have ever gotten an item from another library that you picked up at Southbury, it was probably from another Bibliomation library.
  • Here is a list of all the public libraries in Bibliomation.
