The library’s book drop is closed. For now, hold all returns or return them to any other Connecticut library. Please do not leave returns in front of the library. All Southbury fines will be waived.

Event Details

Please note: because our building is closed, we will be meeting in the Multi-Purpose Room at Parks & Recreation, 561 Main Street South.

Seeing double? Twins—identical and fraternal—make up a tiny fraction of the population, yet they stand out in a world dominated by single births, sparking intense interest and curiosity from the ancient past up to today. Twins exist everywhere in the world and in all ethnicities, sometimes viewed with superstition or fear, sometimes seen as powerful or smile-inspiring. They have a long history in legend and in pop culture, often used as a plot device in books, films, and TV. Learn more about twins from identical twin speakers. Everyone is invited, including twins.

Identical twins Isabel Burk and Marian Wood, daughters of a twin, bring a lifetime of experience to this fascinating topic. Isabel has an MS in Health Science, with a background in School Health and Safety expertise. Marian has an MBA, with a background in marketing and genealogy. Only a few years ago, the twins confirmed through DNA testing that they are identical, despite their parents’ insistence that they are fraternal.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this event is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Registration is required. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library.
