This program will be delivered via Zoom and will be streamed to our Kingsley Room. If you want to watch the program from home, register here.

Join us in this exploration of the night sky.  We will examine the moon, planets, and the constellations that are visible this time of year – where they are and how to find them in the sky. We will talk just a little bit about navigating by the stars. While we will focus on the traditional “Western” view of the sky, which is Greek and Roman in origin, we will also briefly explore the diversity of the night sky by seeing one or two constellations from other cultures around the world.

Brian Koehler graduated from St. Joseph’s College (NY) in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Secondary Education. Brian is a presenter and supervisor of the Mystic Seaport Museum’s Treworgy Planetarium.  Brian is currently the President of Middle Atlantic Planetarium Society (MAPS), whose 150+ members work in planetariums at museums, science centers, colleges, and schools along the Atlantic coast.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this event is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Registration is required. This program is sponsored by the Charles H. and Ella Emery Rutledge Fund.  For more information about this program, please email Rebecca at rrandall@biblio.org or call the reference desk at 203-262-0626 ext 130.
