Genealogy research doesn't have to be costly, although it often pays to pay for birth, marriage, and death records of direct ancestors. See how to click beyond the big-name websites and find information about ancestors from free and low-cost sources such as Linkpendium, the Ancestor Hunt, historical and genealogical societies, and other resources. Also learn how to decide whether to pay for a family-history document, based on details in the record, time and distance from the source, the uniqueness of the record, and what else is missing from the family tree.
Marian Burk Wood is a Southbury-based genealogy speaker and author of the best-selling genealogy book, “Planning a Future for Your Family’s Past.” Born in the Bronx, she has been researching her ancestors from Eastern Europe and her husband's ancestors from England and the Midwest for more than two decades. Her genealogy blog, "Climbing My Family Tree," is ranked among the country's most popular family-history blogs.
This program will be taking place on Zoom. Registration is required for attendance.
