Junior Friends of the Southbury Library
The Junior Friends of the Southbury Library are volunteers comprised of students in grades 4-12. They meet on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm. Balancing recreation with service, the Junior Friends assist in the Children’s and Teen Departments. Duties include book shelving and sorting, cleaning, decorating, and preparing for library events. They also enjoy movie or game nights, holiday parties, and other activities during recreational meetings.
The Junior Friends also provide service to the Southbury community, local area and the world at large through bake sales, read-a-thons, book sales, and talent shows. They have contributed to the American Red Cross, Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence, the Southbury Food and Fuel Banks, Ronald McDonald House, St. Vincent DePaul Mission, Animals for Life, Walter Reed Hospital, Children to Children Foundation, Pomperaug High School Robotics Club, Brady’s Smile, Companion Pet Rescue, and many more.
Children and teens from all towns are welcome to join the Junior Friends.
