Meet our new Head Librarian, Heather Szaley Aronson!

You may recognize Heather as she’s worked at the Southbury Public Library since 2003. Starting as a volunteer, Heather decided the library was the place for her and has been everything from circulation assistant to Head of Youth Services.  A life-long Connecticut resident, she holds a Master of Arts from the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut and a Master of Library and Information Sciences from Drexel University.

Heather loves chatting with patrons about cozy mysteries, true crime nonfiction, PBS miniseries and British television. In her spare time she volunteers with several animal rescue and literacy organizations and is attempting to learn American Sign Language. Heather also enjoys horror movies, podcasts, comics, and listening to her vintage record collection.

Excited to begin this next chapter of her career, Heather plans to rejuvenate the adult volunteer program and is looking forward to continuing to build relationships with Town and local organizations. Stop by to say hello and share your ideas for new and interesting library programs and collections!
