Teens

Welcome to the Teen Department of the Southbury Public Library

The Teen Area of the Southbury Public Library is a gathering place for teens to meet with friends, do homework, and find materials to check out.

A wide variety of materials are available for circulation. Choose from the latest fiction, non-fiction, and graphic novels. New books check out for two weeks, and all others check out for three weeks. Special collections include college and test prep materials and the current Teen & High School Nutmeg Nominees. Audio books, dvds, and music cds circulate for three weeks. All dvds must be checked out on an adult card.

Access online resources with your Southbury library card such as iCONN.org to request materials and access journals, Overdrive to download audio and ebooks, Learning Express Library for academic and career practice tests, and Mango Languages.

Monthly programs include book clubs, anime and Doctor Who clubs, art, acting, technology and more. Check the calendar for details and special events. Volunteer opportunities are available through the Junior Friends (grades 4-12) and Teen Advisory Board (grades 6-12).

Need inspiration on what to read next?  We have an extensive Readers’ Advisory listing of books in many genres.  For more detailed information, check out our Book Review Blog for books, music, movies, and more.
