CHILDREN’S
 PROGRAMS

Summer is here and so is our Summer Reading Program! This year our theme is “Heroes in Our World and Beyond” and we will have lots of hero events throughout the summer. We have two separate reading programs – one for our preschoolers and one for school aged children.

For our preschoolers, we invite you to  join the challenge and read 1000 books before kindergarten! Upon registering for summer reading, your little one will be given a reading log to keep track of the books you read together. Read 1000 different books or the same favorite titles over and over and receive stickers for every book read along with a small prize each time you visit the library. When you reach your goal, we will award you with a certificate and proudly put your picture on our “1000 Books” bulletin board.

For our older kids, we ask you to register in person for summer reading. Once you are registered, start reading! Keep track of the hours you’ve read, and for every hour of independent reading you do, visit the library to receive tickets and take a chance on a variety of  prizes donated by the Friends of the Library, area businesses and generous individuals. Some of these prizes include N.Y. Yankees tickets, an American Girl Doll, guitar lessons, tennis camp instruction….the list goes on and on! Children of all ages can also fill out a ticket for our Grand Prize – a family Four Pack to Mystic Aquarium!

All reading tickets must be in by noon on Friday, August 26th and the prizes will be awarded at 4:30pm.
