Adult Services

Welcome to Adult Services

Adult Services at the Southbury Public Library consists of the Adult Circulation Department, the Reference Department, the public computers on the main floor of the library, and all of the library programs, events, and clubs intended for adults.

Go to the Reference Department if you need help searching for books, movies, or other library materials. Additionally, if you have a specific question about how to use the library’s public computers, public printer, wireless network, online catalog, website, or online databases, see the Reference Librarian. If you need more intensive help conducting research or learning how to use the library’s databases, please set an appointment to meet with a Reference Librarian by speaking to the librarian at the Reference Desk or calling (203) 262-0626, ext. 130. You can also call or visit the Reference Desk to learn more about library programs and reserve a spot for upcoming library events.

The Circulation Desk is where patrons can check out materials and, if they wish, return materials (otherwise, materials can be returned in the slot outside the library’s front entrance any time during the day or night). If you have a question about library lending policies or fines, or if there is an issue with an adult book, audio book, CD, or movie checked out on your account, ask the Adult Circulation Department for assistance. The staff at the Circulation Desk can also assist patrons who would like to register for a library card, borrow an eReader, or borrow an electricity monitor.
